Der Film, 30 Jahre nach der Ermordung von Patrice Lumumba gedreht, verbindet privateÜberlegungen und Bilder mit Erinnerungen von Journalisten, die zu jener Zeit aus dem Kongo berichten. / Dabei entsteht ein kurzes Porträt des ermordeten Premierministers und eine kritische Bestandsaufnahme der moralischen, politischen und ethischen Verantwortung eines Journalisten. 1962. Ein Junge aus Haiti fährt zu seinem Vater, der als Entwicklungshelfer im Kongo tätig ist. Die Ermordung Patrice Lumumbas in Katanga liegt gerade zwei Jahre zurück. Dreißig Jahre später dreht der nun erwachsene Junge einen Dokumentarfilm über den Streiter für die Unabhängigkeit Afrikas. Den Anlaß dazu gab ein Foto aus der damaligen Zeit, das seine Mutter wiedergefunden hatte. Der Film ist eine Reise in die Vergangenheit, mit Zeugenaussagen und Archivbildern und Reflexionen über den politischen Mord. Ein gleichzeitig subjektives, historisches, literarisches imaginäres Experiment des Autors. Ein Junge aus Haiti fährt zu seinem Vater, der als Entwicklungshelfer im Kongo tätig ist. Die Ermordung Patrice Lumumbas in Katanga liegt gerade zwei Jahre zurück. Dreißig Jahre später dreht der nun erwachsene Junge einen Dokumentarfilm über den Streiter für die Unabhängigkeit Afrikas. Den Anlaß dazu gab ein Foto aus der damaligen Zeit, das seine Mutter wiedergefunden hatte. Der Film ist eine Reise in die Vergangenheit, mit Zeugenaussagen und Archivbildern und Reflexionen über den politischen Mord. Ein gleichzeitig subjektives, historisches, literarisches imaginäres Experiment des Autors.
